The village has a lantern contest and all the different provinces enter a lantern.
To get to the market we took a pump boat from our beach to the Buenavista wharf, then a Jeepney to the market. We had lunch at a fast food pizza place and then shopped for fruit and veggies at the market. After that Ruby set us up in a tricycle and we drove through the hills to get back home rather than taking a boat back across. That's one thing I remember about the Philippines, how many modes of transportation it's possible to take in a day.
These are all just quick pics off the back of the tricycle.
We definitely took advantage of this pool, or Sadie did anyway. She practically spent all day, everyday in the pool. She came out to eat and take naps, but it all paid off because she can swim now! John calls it the drowning rat swim, but at least it's better than the sinking rat swim.
We ate about 8 mangos a day between the 3 of us.
This is the beach that was a five minute walk from our house. It looks really nice in these photos, but the water was pretty dirty and there were lots of fishing boats right off the coast, so we never actually swam in the water here. Sadie was content to swim in our pool. On this day we visited the beach as the sun was starting to set so the light was really beautiful. This is a different beach that we visited. We hired a boat to take us on a trip to a beach and he took us to this resort. We played in the water and had lunch there, then explored the resort a little and came home. The boat trip ended up taking a long time and Sadie napped the entire way home, lulled by the engine and the waves.
