Turkey Day Two

We all woke up early on our second day in Istanbul. We went for an early morning walk along the sea. We went all the way around the city wall and bought some yummy pastries. Later we went to the little cafe around the corner and Sadie played with the cat hiding under the car. There were cats everywhere in Istanbul, sneaking into rug shops and trying to sneak food that dropped off the table. One even grabbed chicken right out of Johns hand a few days later! After that we went to the Grand Bazaar, a crazy market full of cheap trinkets from China. There is a picture of Sadie with someones calculator practicing her bargaining skills for a pair of slippers. In the evening on the way back a man came up and wanted to shine Sadies boots. It was pretty cute and we assumed he just wanted to do it for fun because he just grabbed her shoe and shined it, then he shined mine too but just a quick swipe across the toes. I gave him two lire thinking he would be pleased to have little tip, but then he asked for 20 lire! I gave him a token for the trolley and we left quickly.
